Responsibility

James is based in London and alongside Darron Weinstein is responsible for providing pan-European capital solutions throughout the capital stack on behalf of property investors/developers.

 

Key skills

With 14 years’ experience in various roles, James has a deep understanding of structuring and underwriting complex real estate transactions in all asset classes across the capital spectrum: Due diligence, financial modelling, underwriting, transaction execution and managing third party consultants and advisors.

Background

James started his career on the Chartered Surveyor graduate scheme at CBRE where he spent more than 6 years in various roles (retail warehousing, development, valuation) before moving to Knight Frank where he worked in the Central London valuation advisory team. In this role he worked on some of London’s most iconic buildings, including the Heron Tower, One New Change, The Walkie Talkie.

From Knight Frank, James joined JP Morgan Bank where he worked on the acquisition of Project Falcon - a €2.2bn pan-European loan book, Project Mint (8 Hilton Doubletree hotels) - the first multi-jurisdictional, dual-currency CMBS of the cycle as well as a number of smaller portfolios.

James then joined Pepper UK where he was Head of Real Estate Advisory and oversaw the de-leveraging, asset management and value accretion initiatives of Project Forge, a £450 million NPL portfolio on behalf of CarVal Investors and Deutsche Bank.
